What do safety and prevention have to do with my air conditioner not functioning properly? If your house is warm but the AC is on, safety and prevention comes in the form of troubleshooting. Here’s what to look at if your air conditioner is running but your home never cools off.
The thermostat is a great place to start your troubleshooting when the cooling system isn’t keeping up with demand. Check the temperature setting first. Is it set where you want it? Is it set below the room temperature? It’s easy for a thermostat to get set incorrectly, either with a bump or by someone who isn’t familiar with the programming and setting of a digital device. Reset the temperature and see if the AC starts cooling.
Seems hard to believe, but a dirty filter can prevent the air conditioner from functioning properly. Dirt and dust can block proper airflow, preventing the unit from circulating cool air throughout your home. Check and change the air filter and see if that fixes the problem.
Where is the condenser, you ask? It’s located on the unit outside of your home. Check for dirt and debris on and around the condenser. If it’s blocking the cooling function, it could be the reason your house is warm instead of cool. Clean off the area you can safely see and access, but call in a technician for any other cleaning to prevent injury.
When it’s hot outside, you want it to be cool inside. If your air conditioner is running but your home isn’t getting cool, there could be some simple reasons why. If you’ve tried troubleshooting and you’re still not feeling the cool, it’s time to call for service. The technician was on time and prompt. Very professional and didn't try to upsell me. I would recommend him to others and would use him again in the future. He was forthright and straight up about my unit. I appreciated his honesty.read more
