What Are the Advantages of Using a Programmable Thermostat?
Thursday, March 10, 2016
Homeowners discussing thermostat options with HVAC salesman

If you’re still using an old thermostat, now is the time to learn about accessories and upgrades that could change your life. The time for a programmable thermostat has come. There are many advantages you should know about as you make your choice.

New Technology and Flexibility

Old thermostats need to be adjusted and changed every time you want to change the temperature in your home. Up, down, on, off, that's the norm with an old device. Programmable thermostats allow you to customize your comfort by pre-setting your temperature needs, so your thermostat bumps the heat or air up or down automatically based on how you set it and depending on your personal preferences, schedule, and lifestyle.

Customizing Temperature Control Saves Energy

In addition to making your home more comfortable more of the time by setting up your thermostat to fit your needs, a programmable thermostat also helps save you money. When your heating and cooling system uses less energy, the result will be lower utility bills.

A programmable thermostat allows you to raise or lower the temperature automatically. When you’re not home in the winter, lower the temperature to save energy. Going on vacation in the summer? Bump up the air conditioner temperature to save money and use less energy. You don’t have to do it manually; you can do it before you ever leave the house.

With the latest technology in thermostats, you can customize your comfort in your home without having to adjust the thermostat a dozen times a day. Instead, just set it and forget it. Repair technician inspected newly installed thermostat, found installation error, and repaired. He then inspected the air handler and outside compressor. Discovered freon was leaking, topped off freon to hold me over, and made recommendations for future repairs and upgrades.

Response time was great - next day service, on a Saturday. Service fee was very reasonable, and the technician was polite, professional, and informative.
