Energy Efficiency

Learn how energy efficiency is related to air conditioning problems.

How is energy efficiency part of the picture when the air conditioner isn’t working properly? Your first concern is going to be that your house isn’t cooling down the way it should. The second is wondering about repairs. Finally, you probably have questions about energy efficiency. Let’s go in order to cover these topics:

Air Conditioning Not Functioning Properly

There are a lot of things that can go wrong with an HVAC unit since it’s a complex machine with lots of moving parts. There is some troubleshooting you can do, however, to see if it’s a simple fix. The steps you should take include:

  1. Check the air filter.
A dirty or clogged filter can prevent enough cool air from passing through leaving your home feeling a bit warmer than you’d like.
  2. Check the thermostat.
Is it set properly? If you turn it lower than the room temperature, the air conditioner should kick in.
  3. Check your vents.
If your vents are blocked, it could be the cause of inconsistent cooling.
  4. Check the condenser coil to make sure it’s not dirty.
A dirty coil will prevent consistent airflow.
  5. Is Repair in the Cards?

If you’ve done some basic troubleshooting and you’re still not getting the results you want from your air conditioner, it might be time for a service call. The top HVAC companies are available 24/7 to address any service issues that come up, day or night.

    Then There’s Energy Efficiency

Something to keep in mind with an A/C that isn’t providing you with regular cooling is your energy efficiency. It’s easy to just brush it off and live with it if it’s working, even if it’s not working properly.

The problem then becomes your reduced efficiency in addition to reduced effectiveness. When your system isn’t working properly, it’s worth the time to get it repaired or you could pay for it in the long run with higher utility bills.

If you’re having problems with your air conditioner not cooling your entire house, it could be time for some maintenance. To schedule an appointment to get your HVAC in top working order and to preserve its energy efficiency, contact All City Heat and Air.

We have been dealing with you for years and would not consider contacting anyone else when we have a problem or for our annual inspection. We do not hesitate to recommend you to all of our family and friends whenever they have a need for a top notch heating and air specialist.
